Rideshare Month 2022 Recap
Another Rideshare Month is in the books! Throughout the month, we organized an array of exciting events and activities, all geared towards promoting sustainable transportation alternatives, reducing single-occupancy vehicles on the roads, and encouraging commuters to carpool and vanpool.
One of the highlights of Rideshare Month was the series of pop-up events hosted at various local park and ride locations. From Silverleaf Park and Ride to Lee Hall Commuter Parking Lot, Indian River Park and Ride, The Tide Newtown Road Parking Lot, and the Portsmouth Park and Sail, these events introduced commuters to the many benefits of ridesharing, not only for the environment but also for our wallets and overall well-being.
Moreover, TRAFFIX teamed up with Newport News Shipbuilding to bring environmentally friendly commuting options to their employees. By encouraging ridesharing, this collaboration allowed Newport News Shipbuilding staff to contribute to a greener future while making their daily commutes more enjoyable and cost-effective.
But the fun didn’t stop there. Rideshare Month was not just about hosting events at park and rides; it extended its reach to various special occasions as well. The TRAFFIX team actively participated in the VDOT Employee Appreciation Fair, Canon Employee Benefit Fair, and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance event, where they spread awareness about ridesharing’s positive impact on both the environment and individuals.
The success of Rideshare Month lies in the power of collective action. Together, we took small steps towards making a significant change. By choosing rideshare options, we not only reduced our impact on the environment but also enjoyed the added benefits of saving on commuting expenses and experiencing a more social and stress-free journey to work.
